What is revenue?

Revenue is the total amount generated by the sale of goods or services related to running your

business.

Revenue is only sale proceeds, while income or profit include the expenses to generate revenue and report the net earnings.

To best understand your business, I highly recommend breaking revenue into subcategories that you can track. For example, Etsy revenue, website revenue, craft market revenue, wholesale revenue, and so on.

Simply look at your business and ask yourself, “what are the different ways my business makes money”, and break out your revenue according to that.
